Union Introduction: No. 1 North Char Ababil Union is connected to Barisal and Chadpur districts on the westernmost border of greater Noakhali district i.e. present Laxmipur district. Before this union the greater Char Banshi was integrated with the larger area, later in 1936 another union was established called Char Ababil Union Board Office. In 1996, Char Ababil Union split into Char Banshi and two new unions emerged. The names of 4 unions including the former two and the present two are North Char Ababil Union No. 1, North Char Banshi Union No. 2, Dakshin Char Banshi Union No. 6, South Char Ababil Union No. 9. To the north-west of the said union is Char Bhairabi Union of Haimchar Upazila of Greater Comilla District and present Chadpur District and not far is Kodalpur Union of Ghoshair Hat Upazila of Shariatpur District. The current population of this union is about 70,000. The literacy rate is 80%. Professionally 40% are farmers, 60% are traders, 25% are employees, 10% are fishermen and 06% are other professionals. 80% of the total population lives below the poverty line. Area of the Union 48.42 sq km Boundary of the Union - South - 2 North Char Banshi, East - 9 South Char Ababil Union, Raipur, Laxmipur and Charbhairabi Union, Haimchar, Chandpur, West - Barisal and Chandpur districts. Number of families: 9,800. Amount of land: 108 acres. Bridges - Calvat: Bridge - 15, Calvat - 40. Rivers: Meghna River, formerly Dakatiya River and Dead Meghna River.
